We welcome urban planners, researchers, city and county staff, students, educators, biologists, and ecologists of all backgrounds from across the globe to highlight research, case studies, policy initiatives, thought exercises, and discussions related to wildlife and natural resources in urban environments.

Due to several requests for extensions, abstracts for oral presentations, posters, organized symposia and workshops will now be accepted through October 15th, 2024. Acceptance letters will be sent in November.

The theme for the 2025 International Urban Wildlife Conference is “Urban Reflections: What We’ve Learned About Nature, Our Communities and Ourselves”

In addition to this theme, the we welcome submissions on any urban wildlife subject, which may include, but are not limited to:

-Human dimensions in urban systems

-Urban evolution & genetics

-Wildlife and natural resource education

-Human-wildlife conflict

-Urban planning and natural areas management

-Wildlife health & disease

-Urban wildlife management-

-Citizen and community science

-Data analysis

-Animal behavior and physiology

Abstract Submission Types

  1. 1. Oral presentations (15 minutes + 5 minutes for questions)

2. Posters

3. Organized Symposia (session = five 20-minute talks/time slots, half day = 10 talks/slots, full day = 19 talks/slots)

4. Workshops (half day or full day)

We especially welcome organized sessions and workshops. Please use the abstract submission link above to submit your proposals.

Travel Grants

At the end of the submission form there is a link to a separate form to apply for a travel grant to support attendance by students, early career professionals, and international participants. There are only a limited number of travel grants available.

We will award 8-12 grants ranging in value from $500 to $1,000 based on merit and expressed need. We will prioritize applicants (1) who will be presenting at the conference, (2) who have financial need, (3) who are UWWG or TWS members, and (4) whose career goals align with the conference (i.e., ecology and management in urban ecosystems).

Applications are due by October 15th, 2024 and awardees will be notified in November. Award checks will be physically given to awardees at the conference in June. Recipients of the grant must attend the conference or forfeit the grant money. Eligibility:

Students must be currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program. Both graduate and undergraduate student applications will be considered.

Early career professionals are individuals with less than five years of professional work experience or those that meet the following criteria: (1) within the first 36 consecutive months of full-time wildlife employment, above entry-level; (2) currently unemployed while seeking full-time employment in the wildlife field; (3) holds part-time employment while seeking full-time employment in the wildlife field; (4) within 5 years of graduation with curricula related to wildlife.

International applicants are individuals based outside of Canada and the US.
